Emerging economies playing catch up tend to leapfrog technology adoption phases. People in China did not go from cash to credit cards to mobile payments through Alipay and WeChat Pay; they went from cash directly to mobile payments
Adoption also happens first wherever there is the greatest need. There is a general sense that current systems work relatively well in developed economies, so blockchain adoption is lower. Blockchain is largely seen as an investment opportunity in developed economies while it is solving everyday problems in emerging economies
I expect most of the capital and resources to come from developed economies but most of the innovation and adoption will continue to happen in emerging economies
